Ghost Rose Jelly // New House Champagne Jelly // Engagement Party Champagne Jelly // Lavender Jelly
Several jellies have been made from connections to our home or neighborhood such as the white roses from the derelict house on the corner, the champagne our realtor (and friends) gave us to celebrate our first home, and lavender grown by our home's previous owner.

Ghost Rose Jelly is made from the petals of a mature rose bush that grew on the lot of an abandoned home near our former Eastlake apartment. Known simply as the Raccoon House (due to its most recent inhabitants), signs went up at the beginning of the year that this derelict house would be torn down to make room for a 40 unit micro-housing building. We picked the last of the blossoms of the rose bush back in June as a way to preserve the memory of this plant and house in a city that's rapidly losing its history. On the day we loaded up a moving van with our possessions, the backhoe arrived and began tearing it down.
New House Champagne Jelly was a way to capture the moment of signing the papers on our new house! As we were signing papers, there was a knock on our front door and when we opened it up, it was our realtor with a bottle of champagne. Even though it was only 10am on a Monday, we opened it for a celebratory toast! After everyone left, one bear thought it would be a nice excuse to get day-drunk! :) The other bear wisely suggested we get back to packing and save it to make a champagne jelly later that evening. Since then, we've received several other delicious bottles of "new home" wines and champagnes!
